Naturally Different…

PoZu boots with Maharishi tweed

These boots arrived not long into the new year. A lot of time, a lot of research and a lot of longing went into finding these boots. The criteria were pretty straighforward – a sturdy boot that is as natural as possible, that doesn’t look like it was made in a yurt. Craftsmanship and materials as ever, are of the utmost importance.

There are loads of products floating about in this world of ours. You don’t need to travel far, you don’t need to think too hard. There are quick fixes everywhere, but at what price? Not the price out of your pocket… the picture is bigger than most of us see.

These boots are a variation on the Sequoia boot, a staple in the PoZu range. These particular boots are a collaboration with global style brand Maharishi, who applied their own tweed to the tongue and detachable cuff. The Sequoia boot can be a high boot, as pictured, or with the cuffs removed can be an ankle, desert style boot. The leather is all natural, as is the latex used for the sole. Add in the wool tweed and you have a stylish boot that is completely biodegradable.

Surely there must be a catch, right? Wrong. These boots are also super-comfortable, no matter how you wear them, largely due to the unique insole, more accurately described by PoZu as the foot mattress; and that’s how it feels – like a mattress. Stuffed full of coconut fibre, the foot mattress moulds itself to your feet as you wear, making for an extremely comfortable shoe.

biodegradable shoe box with planted garlic

It doesn’t stop with the shoe. The shoe box is also made from compressed coconut husk, fully biodegradable packaging that now houses the garlic plants, ready to pop straight into the ground, box and all.

Check out the price for yourself. They’re not expensive compared to a lot of ‘ordinary’ high street footwear, but they are certainly not cheap.

Cheap does not equal good value.
